The Commissioner's Corner - Week 16 & 17

League News

We enjoy a special double-dip edition of TCC this week as your fearless leader was in the nation's capitol and Atlantic City during week 16.  Wheel of Fortune slots were shit, dominated 3-card poker to the tune of +$300, then gave some back to Lady Roulette.  Any time you leave a casino up, it's a good trip.

The standings have been almost identical for 4 weeks.  Richie and Tim are now 5th and 6th respectively, and Alex and James are now 8th and 9th.  With the deadline coming at the end of this week and most teams unwilling to throw in the towel, this could be one of the quietest deadlines this league has ever seen.

Milestones and Historical Perspective

Tim officially passed Paul in week 17 on the all-time wins list.  He is now 15th on that list and trails Jason by 12 wins.  He needs 27 wins over his last 5 contests to break record for most wins by an expansion team (Jarrett, 2003).

Hey, look at this!

This is our brand new segment called "Hey, look at this!" where I find mildly interesting stats and present them to you in a way that may or may not mildly interest you.

Jarrett's last two years, weeks 1-7: .422 winning percentage (1-8-5 weekly)
Jarrett's last two years, weeks 8+:  .670 winning percentage (20-3-4 weekly)

Incentives

WWE Belt

Payouts: $50 at the All-Star Break (week 15), $75 at the end of the regular season

Belt holder:  I swear, this belt has a magnet attached to it.  After sticking to Jarrett for almost all of 2014, TJ beats Alex 5-3 in week 16 to take the belt back and defends it with a 6-3 win vs James last week.  12 of his 17 match ups this year have featured the belt.

Shutout Pool

Week 18 pot: $5 (ha!)
And as the clock struck 8:00pm on Sunday night, everyone rejoiced; for the league's most wanted wish came true, and Richie tapped the shutout pool for $55!  Travers took care of business against the lowly Adrian, sweeping all 10 categories.  It was the first time in franchise history that Travers had been involved in a 10-0 affair, good or bad.

Neighborhood Rumble

Payouts:  $25 to the Islington and Westwood champion, $50 to the Tournament champ
